Stretch Marks Help Conquered With Fraxel

It's been said that stretch marks are a cosmetic problem and to just live with them.

A new medical breakthrough, once used to fight aging, is now helping people conquer stretch marks.

Exercise, weight gain, weight loss and pregnancy are just a few of the things that cause those unsightly ridges known as stretch marks that streak a woman's hips, thighs, buttocks and stomach.Fraxel is like Photoshop for the skin. For instance, you can erase lines in the skin. With Fraxel, you're using a laser to target points in the skin.

"It creates tiny, tiny injuries in the skin, and we actually make about 10 passes with the Fraxel to the skin called microthermal zones and you can't see them with the naked eye," Nickolaidis said.

Hand-held Acne Device That Works!

"How about taking a little gadget out of your briefcase and using it to blast the pimple away," suggests Luiz Da Silva, inventor of ThermaClear, a hand-held anti-acne device that many men say they can't live without. It uses heat technology, similar to the laser treatments you'd receive in a dermatologist's office, only on a much smaller scale, to fight mild-to-moderate acne.

Aging Slows With Vitamin D

Vitamin D may help slow ageing

A vitamin made when sunlight hits the skin could help slow down the ageing of cells and tissues, say researchers.
A King's College London study of more than 2,000 women found those with higher vitamin D levels showed fewer ageing-related changes in their DNA.

However, the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition study stops short of proving cause and effect.

A lack of vitamin D, also found in some foods, has also been linked to multiple sclerosis and rheumatoid arthritis.

The genetic material inside every cell has an inbuilt "clock", which counts down every time the cell reproduces itself.

The shortening of these strands of DNA called telomeres is one way of examining the ageing process at a cellular level.

Snapshot measurement

The King's team looked at white blood cells, which tend to experience faster rates of turnover - and faster shortening of telomeres - when the body's tissues are suffering more inflammation.

They looked at a total of 2,160 women aged between 18 and 79, and took a snapshot measurement of the levels of vitamin D in their bloodstream, comparing this to the length of the telomeres in their white blood cells.

They found that, after adjusting the results for the age of the volunteer, women with higher levels of vitamin D were more likely to have longer telomeres in these cells, and vice versa.

Professor Brent Richards, who led the study, said: "These results are exciting because they demonstrate for the first time that people who have higher levels of vitamin D may age more slowly than people with lower levels of vitamin D.

"This could help to explain how vitamin D has a protective effect on many ageing-related diseases, such as heart disease and cancer."

Speed It Up With Capsaicin!

Capsaicin, the fiery compound in hot red peppers, may make fledging fat cells self-destruct, Taiwanese scientists report.

But don’t drown your dinner in hot pepper sauce just yet. So far, the Taiwanese team has only pitted capsaicin against fat cells in test tubes, not people.

Scientists included Gow-Chin Yen, a professor in the food science and biotechnology department at Taiwan's National Chung Hsing University.

They focused on cells called preadipocytes, which develop into fat cells. The researchers wanted to see what effect capsaicin would have on such cells.

First, they brewed a capsaicin extract in their lab. Then, they marinated preadipocytes from mice in the capsaicin extract for eight days, freshening the capsaicin extract every other day. http://www.venusandmarz.com shop for designer makeup at 60% saving

Breast Implants For Men

Breast Implants Up (for Men)

Call it the Matthew McConaughey phenomena.

There's a skyrocketing amount of men undergoing plastic surgery to attain those perfectly symmetrical, squared-off pecs, like the Spartan warriors from 300.

While the procedure is still relatively rare in the world of body modification, there were 409 pectoral implants performed in 2006, and that's a 99 percent increase over the year before, according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.

Love Detector Checked by Voice Frequency

Valentines Day in South Korea means chocolates, romantic dinners and a high-tech mobile phone device that can secretly check the passion in the voice of a lover.

The "Love Detector" service from mobile operator KTF uses technology that is supposed to analyze voice patterns to see if a lover is speaking honestly and with affection.

"We created this service because we thought people would want to know what others were feeling about them," said Ahn Hee-jung, a KTF official.

Users who speak by pointing their mobile phones at themselves for video conferences can see a "love meter" bar on the screen of their handset during a conversation.

They later receive an analysis of the conversation delivered through text message that breaks down the amount of affection, surprise, concentration and honesty of the other speaker.

The service costs subscribers a flat fee of 1,500 won ($1.59) a month for unlimited use or can be accessed at 300 won for each call, KTF said.

Girly Phone + Calorie Counter

Now I like a pretty phone as much as the next girl, but I do resent the plethora of 'pink girly' phones that companies produce in the hope they will lure girls into starry eyed submission. Now this offering is rather curious, as at first glance I do find it rather attractive, but moving beyond the clam-shell design I find it packed with frankly insulting features, from a calorie counting system to a perfume matcher.
The Samsung fashion phone gives us style and makeup advice Quite apart from how a phone can give you advice on fragrance, the fact that the cellphone is packed with 'female applications' simply makes me nauseated. It's degrading, dismissive an simply deplorable that a company could categorize women in such a manner. The SGH-L310 and SGH-L320 will first be available in Russia, then moving to Europe, well perhaps Russian women need a shopping list function more than we do!

The phone has your usual features, including Bluetooth, 2 mega pixel camera and external screens, but I think that those could have stood alone- why target women with fluffy features that only add to cultural stereotypes? Samsung, I'm ashamed of you.Shop for designer makeup at www.venusandmarz.com

Cell Phone Harms Sperm

Spending hours on a cell phone each day may affect the quality of a man's sperm, preliminary research suggests.

In a study of 361 men seen at their infertility clinic, researchers at the Cleveland Clinic found an association between the patients' cell phone use and their sperm quality.

On average, the more hours the men spent on their cell phones each day, the lower their sperm count and the greater their percentage of abnormal sperm.

The findings, published in the journal Fertility and Sterility, add to questions about the potential health effects of cell phones and other wireless devices. Some studies, for example, have linked long-term cell phone use to a higher risk of brain tumors, though many other studies have found no such connection.

Tat's That Deliver

Tattoos may be tomorrow's vaccines
The tattoo of the future may be good for your health rather than just your image.

German scientists say that work on mice showed that tattooing was a more effective way to deliver a new generation of experimental DNA vaccines than standard injections into muscle.
