Diamond Thong Worth $168,000

SINGAPORE (Reuters) - A diamond thong worth $168,000 ($122,000) was the highlight of a lingerie fashion show in Singapore on Thursday.
The Triumph Luxurious Diamond Thong had 518 brilliant-cut diamonds, totaling 30 carats, studded into the front of a black lace thong in a floral pattern. The skimpy underwear that left little to the imagination also had 27 white gold tassels hanging off it.
Danielle Luminita, a brunette model from Romania, was carried down the runway on the shoulders of two male models wearing only the diamond thong.

Eye Scratched From Thong

Fifty-two-year-old Macrida Patterson, who works in parking enforcement for the Los Angeles Department of Transportation, says she suffered a scratched cornea after either a pendant or a metal fastener snapped off a pair of panties and struck her in the eye.
"It does seem sort of unbelievable at first," said Patterson's attorney, Jason Buccat. But, he said, his client's injuries will "affect her for the rest of her life."
Tammy Roberts Myers, a Victoria's Secret spokeswoman, said the company had not seen the lawsuit and had no comment.
Apparently the thong failed to meet industry standards. I suppose we can expect warning labels next:
Warning: For external use only. Keep thong away from eyes. In case of swallowing, drink milk. Do not induce vomiting. Seek medical attention immediately.

Cuting End Science Develop Anti-aging Regimens

This is a good time to have some wrinkles on your face. No, really. In the past few years there have been groundbreaking advances in plastic surgery, dermatology and the ever-expanding anti-aging cosmetic industry.
face
More cosmetic companies are diving into cutting edge science to develop the next anti-aging regimens.

Back in the day, your mom probably used a wrinkle cream on her face that promised to "hydrate" her skin and reduce fine lines. These days the buzzwords are anti-oxidants, enzymes, gene therapy and nano molecules.

If you have some fine lines, a few wrinkles but you're not yet ready for the "f" word (facelift), an anti-aging cream might be right for you. But before settling on a product, you'd do well to brush up on your first-year chemistry.

"We are using nano liposome technology with a capsule so small that is gets absorbed through the hair follicles and releases the active ingredient into your skin," said John Kressaty, head chemist at 3Lab, Inc.

"Nano liposome is a very small particle that is able to pass through the skin to deliver vital nutrients. Five years ago, technology was limited where the products only stayed on the surface of the skin and now, with new technology, the molecules are easily absorbed topically," adds Stephanie Scott, public relations director for 3LAB, Inc.

Transform Your Shoes

New shoes, some say, can transform your life. It's not so easy to transform the shoes.

But a few designers are trying. They're offering shoes that can change — from high heel to low heel, from one size to a bigger size, from one outer skin to another — for better fashion, comfort or fit.

It's only a tiny trend in the $45-billion-a-year U.S. footwear market, but it's notable that shoe engineers are trying to alter an aspect of human apparel unchanged for centuries.

"More technology is being applied to shoes than has ever happened before," says shoe historian Elizabeth Semmelhack, curator of the Bata Shoe Museum in Toronto.

•Adjustable heels. Camileon Heels developed a new kind of shoe last, or form, that allows the heel to go from 3¼ to 1½ inches. Pull down on the heel, push it forward and tuck it under the arch of the shoe.

Beauty Is Judged

Beauty may be in the eye of the beholder, but the secret of what constitutes an attractive face could actually lie in a mathematical formula originally devised by artists like Leonardo da Vinci.

Scientists at the University of Nebraska say they have developed software that can predict whether or not a face will be deemed beautiful, using a calculation that calibrates the symmetry and geometry of the face.

Amazingly, the boffins' beauty results are practically identical to a code that da Vinci and the Old Masters followed to paint perfect beauty back in the 15th century.

The Renaissance artists used six Neo-Classical criteria as a guide to defining a beautiful face, among them being that the width of the face must be four times the width of the nose. In addition, the code stipulated that the height of the forehead, length of the nose and the height of the lower face must all be of equal length.

Last week, biostatisticians confirmed that out of the six Renaissance beauty rules used in their computer programme, only one turned out to be wrong. That was the so-called 'divine proportion' or 'golden ratio' between mouth and nose width (the artists said the ratio should be 1.5, whereas the scientists found it to be 1.618).

The rules were then tested on 36 volunteers who responded strongly to those 'ideal' Renaissance traits in pictures of celebrities like Meg Ryan, Rock Hudson and Keanu Reeves. To add to the theory, a recent documentary on Kate Moss argued that her features have the golden ratio of 1.618, which could explain her phenomenal popularity as a model.

So, just how has the Renaissance formula stood the test of time? It could be because the criteria incorporate the basic psychological triggers that alert the mind to beauty -- and ultimately to sexual reproduction.

Just A Fact

After the terrorist attacks of 2001 deflated the economy, Mr. Lauder noticed that his company was selling more lipstick than usual. He hypothesized that lipstick purchases are a way to gauge the economy. When it’s shaky, he said, sales increase as women boost their mood with inexpensive lipstick purchases instead of $500 slingbacks.

Beauty brands remain true believers in the theory, even though in the last few years the lipstick market has fallen on hard times as its glistening cousin, lip gloss, has had robust sales. Shop for designer makeup at 60% saving at: http://www.venusandmarz.com

The Art Of Bathing In Lifes Magic

You don't have to take a bath to be in a bath. Even out of water,we are soaking in the warm aquarium of our own cells.Two/thirds of the weight of the human body is from a liquid that has roughly the same density and chemical composition as the salty broth of the sea. Simply soaking in warm or cool water capitalizes on the physical and mechanical properties of water to promote mental health and relaxation. In ancient cultures water bathing had spiritual overtones. The Romans, cleanliness was next to godliness..it was a duty to patronize public baths. In Japan for centuries people have stood under sacred waterfalls to try to calm their minds. In India along the Ganges, pilgrims by the thoudands immerse themselves in the sluggish stream of the holy river.
In the Judeo-Christian tradition, baptism is still a rite of passage, a dunking ritual not unlike rebirthing. Water is the essence of all life bath in it and rejoice

Brain Surgeons Fear Of Cellphones

What do brain surgeons know about cellphone safety that the rest of us don't?
Last week, three prominent neurosurgeons told the CNN interviewer Larry King that they did not hold cellphones next to their ears. "I think the safe practice," said Dr. Keith Black, a surgeon at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, "is to use an earpiece so you keep the microwave antenna away from your brain."
Dr. Vini Khurana, an associate professor of neurosurgery at the Australian National University who is an outspoken critic of cellphones, said: "I use it on the speaker-phone mode. I do not hold it to my ear."
And CNN's chief medical correspondent, Dr. Sanjay Gupta, a neurosurgeon at Emory University Hospital, said that like Black he used an earpiece.ip N
