With concern over the lead in toy recalls from China. The FDA is now looking into cosmetics coming from China with worries about levels of lead in lipstick.
The Campaign for Safe Cosmetics sent more than 30 different lipsticks to a lab for testing and 20 of them contained lead.
"We want the companies to immediately re-formulate their products to get the lead out," said Stacy Malkan, a representative from the group. "We need to change the laws and force these companies to be accountable to women's health.""We want the companies to immediately re-formulate their products to get the lead out," said Stacy Malkan, a representative from the group. Others in the cosmetic industry believe the report to be invalid.
"I think the levels are actually quite low [and] really not something that would present a cause for concern," said John Bailey of the Cosmetic, Toiletry, and Fragrance Association.
The Food and Drug Administration said Friday it would look into the claims.

First, kids dying from lead in toys. Now, they find high levels of lead in lipsticks. What's next - lead in food? Are women going to start dying now too from using lipstick too much?
Freaky!
There's a detailed report about it at http://www.myproductalert.com/lead-in-lipsticks.html
