Capsaicin - Anti Wrinkle Treatment
Capsaicin The Next New Anti-Wrinkle Treatment
A famous maker of hot sauce accidentally splashed around his eyes and forehead and could only think of the discomfort from the peppers. He was later suprise of the marked improvement to his skin's firmness and a reduction of lines, which led him to investigate further capsaicin. Capsaicin, the phytochemical that gives pepper their heat, has long been used in skin application for muscle and joint pain, but now stumbled upon another use as an anti-wrinkle treatment.
The anti-wrinkle cream is sold under the label Blairlabs. The Company took out the heat and preserved its healing properties.
One of the reason's behind the ingredients efficacy in capsaicin's ability to increase blood flow which not only improves circulation, but also causes the tissue to swell slightly which makes the wrinkled skin plumper and hides wrinkles. The company reports over 7,000 men and women using biocap xs twice a day reorder and referral rate of over 80%.

You can now toss those fake lashes and opt for permanent lenghtey full lashes. A similar procedure that is used by the hair loss industry for balding men are now using the plug and sew technique to achieve long thick stunning lashes that keep on growing. A small incision is made at the back of the scalp and 30 or 40 hair follicles are removed and sewn one at a time into the patient's eyelids. The cost it $3000.00 an eye. The newly transplanted eyelashes will grow like a head of hair and need to trimmed and sometime curly head hair causes too much kink in the lash.
Another method for long lashes is the exciting development of topical medicine uesd in glaucoma patients that seems to grow longer lashes, without surgery.

Is Botox Replacing Prozac
Millons of Women and Men inject Botox to remove the signs of sadness and anxiety. The furrows are also known as the line of expression.,Charles Darwin suggested that facial muscle and skin movement might contribute to our moods and emotions.Ten clinical depressed patients between the age of 36 and 63 who had never been treated with Botox were given Botox injections. After two months they were no signs of frown lines and given a repeated test for depression.
Nine out of 10 patient were no longer depressed and tenth patient reported an improvement in mood. More studies need to be done on a larger scale....Is it skin movement contributing to our mood,or could it be the way people respond to us that can make us sad or happy due to our facial expression...or are we justed pleased with ourselves and new relaxed look.....interesting!

Clues To The Aging Clock
The American Academy of Anti-aging believes has come up with some science and medicine for youthful skin and beauty. It is based on our biology and the role of hormones. Basically the hormones are the science behind the phase of anti-aging.
The Natural decline in our hormone production leads to the changes in our bodies and minds that we call growing old. You can now slow down these processes through bio-identical hormone replacement, exercise, good nutrition and stress control are the science behind anti-aging.

Diamond Ipod
We're trying to understand why someone would buy this diamond-spangled solid gold iPod shuffle, which wins the prize for gaudiest second-rate music player. This one even outdoes that 18-karat solid gold iPod shuffle we pointed out to you last month, with this one tipping the more-money-than-brains pricetag scale of $20,000 compared with that solid gold shuffle's $19,343 price.
Adding even more expense and tawdriness to the equation are diamond-encrusted headphones. Although it's hard to decipher the Scandinavian language in which this is described, it looks like there are 430 diamonds festooning this otherwise utilitarian and screenless digital audio player. The irony doesn't escape us; at least they could've waited for the new iPod nano, and gussied that up with diamonds. Oh, wait, someone's probably going to do that, too. [e24, via LuxuryLaunches]

Beauty Concoction In Vending Machine
23/08/2007 - A new hot chocolate sold in vending machine is a novel addition to the growing market for drinkable and eatable beauty products.
The Denmark-based firms, Eurogran and Chr Hansen, joined forces to make the beauty concoction called Le Royal ChocoDark, which is high in antioxidants, the molecules associated with skin health and anti-aging.
Ingredients specialists Chr. Hansen achieved this by adding palm oil carotenoids to the brew, which is already high in antioxidants thanks to the high cocoa content of the dark chocolate.
The hot chocolate drink will be sold from vending machines across Europe, after the launch of the product at the EU Vend exhibition in Cologne, Germany, on September, 20.

Scientists Discover Important Beauty Secret Younger Looking Skin
Scientists Discover Important Beauty Secret For Balanced Skin Color And Tone
August 22, 2007
Science Daily — In the timeless quest for healthier, younger looking skin, scientists from the University of Cincinnati and Tokyo Medical University have made an important discovery toward manipulating skin tone and color.
The implications of this research range from helping doctors develop more natural looking bioengineered skin grafts to helping cosmetics companies develop new products for achieving the "perfect" sunless tan. The research study, published in the September print issue of The FASEB Journal, shows for the first time how to manipulate skin color and tone using cells previously thought to play no significant role in this function.

Low Glycemic Load Diet May Help Fight Acne
NEW YORK (Reuters Health) - Avoiding high glycemic load foods could help acne sufferers clear up their skin, the results of a new small study suggest.
High glycemic load foods refer to foods that cause a sharp increase in blood glucose, or sugar, such as low-fiber carbohydrates. Low glycemic load foods cause an more gradual and sustained increase in glucose, and include foods such as high-fiber, complex carbohydrates.
After 12 weeks on a low glycemic load diet, men with acne had a significant reduction in pimples, whiteheads and other lesions compared with their peers who stuck to a conventional diet, Dr. Robyn N. Smith of RMIT University in Melbourne, Victoria and colleagues found. visit: http://www.venusandmarz.com/skin4.html for high-end skin care prodcts.

Is A Virus Making You Fat?
WASHINGTON — In the buffet of reasons for why Americans are getting fatter, researchers are piling more evidence on the plate for one still-controversial cause: a virus.
New research announced Monday found that when human stem cells — the blank slate of the cell world — were exposed to a common virus they turned into fat cells. They didn't just change, they stored fat, too.
While this may be a guilt-free explanation for putting on pounds, it doesn't explain all or even most of America's growing obesity problem. But it adds to other recent evidence that blames expanding waistlines on more than just super-sized appetites and underused muscles.
For several years, researchers have looked at a possible link between obesity and this common virus, called adenovirus-36, from a family of viruses that cause colds and pinkeye in people. They had already found that a higher percentage of fat people had been infected with the virus than nonfat people. They had exposed animals to the virus and got them to fatten up and even found a a gene in the virus that causes animals to get obese.

Is Your Makeup Making You Old
Here, his secrets to turning back the clock and the makeup mistakes
that unwittingly advance it. Say I Dew: "Ever notice how children have that sort of pretty sheen
about their skin all the time?" Barnes asks. "That's because their skin has
optimal amounts of water, fat, and oil-all of which keep their faces
looking plump and radiant." As we age, our production of these things
declines and skin gets drier and more drawn looking. In addition, when skin
is dry, lines, wrinkles, and other imperfections appear more prominent. To
create a vibrant looking complexion:
-- Keep skin well hydrated
-- Choose moisturizing foundation and lipstick formulations over matte
ones, which can "suck the life right our skin."
-- Skimp on powder. "In addition to settling into lines wrinkles, too much
powder creates an overly dry and pasty complexion.

Injections in mice blocked chemical linked with weight gain, study finds
WASHINGTON - Researchers have figured out how to remove fat from one part of the body and make it grow in another part — at least in mice — and say their findings could benefit health as well as beauty.
Their findings also shed light on how and why stressed-out people so often gain weight.
"We don't think this is something that would be used for gross obesity, but for reshaping the body for use with pockets of fat ... that would be all very good," said Dr. Zofia Zukowska of Georgetown University Medical Center in Washington, who led the study.

Stem Cell Researchers Grow New Breast Tissue

Of the many women who wish to alter the shape or size of their breasts, a lot will find the un natural shape of silicone or saline implants unattractive. Thankfully, it appears that breast enhancement research scientists have found a way in which women can in fact grow their own new breast tissue.
This new breast enhancement research indicates that, perhaps within 10 years, tissue grown from ones own stem cells may provide what could be considered as a viable alternative to surgery for breast enhancement.
In a complicated procedure discovered by Japanese researchers, a system was devised to develop stem cells into tissue similar to the fat tissue in breasts, by creating similar conditions to those that set off this process naturally in the body. Researchers then injected the fat tissue into mice, and noticed that after three to four weeks, tissue which was implanted had retained both its shape and size.

Babyfaceness Hypothesis
On the left: image of the supermodel Kate Moss, on the right: example of a photographed 4-year-old girl that took part in our experiment regarding the "babyfaceness hypothesis". The face of Kate Moss clearly shows characteristic features of babyfaces, but at the same time it also includes mature female features like high, prominent cheek bones and concave cheeks which are accentuated evenly by using make-up. Cunningham (1986) claims that the presence of both characteristic features makes faces very attractive.
Research on facial attractiveness has pointed out that the presence of childlike facial features increases attractiveness. These are:
* Large head
* Large curved forehead
* Facial elements (eyes, nose, mouth) located relatively low
* Large, round eyes
* Small, short nose
* Round cheeks
* Small chin

Air Brush Makeup Hand Held Device
IMG ] Japanese electronics company Matsushita, which is owned by Panasonic, has applied for a US patent on an electronic device, which relies on ink-jet technology to spray specific amounts of color cosmetics on to the face. The company has named Procter & Gamble as a joint patent-holder on the patent application, suggesting that the technology has the potential for mainstream marketing through the world's largest consumer goods company. The hand held technology contains a removable cartridge with a reservoir that contains any amount or mixture of liquid cosmetics that can be 'printed' onto the face using a predetermining control for the exact amount and precise effect required. The housing consists of a motor, which drives an actuator operating a pump that sprays the makeup onto the face. "The device further includes a field electrode that surrounds the reservoir and is connected to the high voltage generator so that the entire liquid composition is given more or less a common electric potential," patent application 20070114305 reads, which was originally identified by the New Scientist magazine. The device is filled up at a reservoir that can be loaded with any type of liquid color cosmetic products, whether it be foundation or eyeshadow. The specific cosmetic can then be selected and loaded up into the device, ready to be printed on to the face. One of the biggest advantages of the technology is the fact that it offers a level of control for makeup application that is almost impossible to achieve when applying products by hand. As well as getting rid of the need for various applicators, such as brushes and powder the manufacturer claims it will help the makeup application process to be less messy and faster. Until now, no one technology has really made any significant change to makeup application, beside makeup artists ocassionally using handheld application devices such as compressed air guns, just to speed up the process and to get an even and professional finish. However, where this new technology could really come into its own is the fact that it can be used by anyone to reproduce new types of finishes, with the manufacturer even hinting that it could be used to spray print images, patterns and even photos onto the face. This means that, for example, it might be used to spray specific patterns or images on to the eyelids, where women often use more elaborate patterns and colors to decorate their faces.

Beauty Isn't All That Matters In Life
The Herald (Harare)
OPINION

Harare
NEWSWEEK magazine once devoted one issue a few years ago to the biology of beauty. Whereas a perfect face and body have always defined beauty, researchers agree that there is a universal sense of beauty in all cultures.
Arthur Danto, an art critic, says: "Beauty is beauty across all cultural divisions."
In Mauritania, a girl or woman is considered beautiful if she is fat and well-rounded. It is reported that mothers force-feed their girl children to become fat so that men find them attractive.
A survey was carried out some years ago about what men in different continents of the world regarded as a beautiful woman. European men went for the face while African men preferred the more rounded hip and bottom. Is it any wonder the latest fashion is to wear tight-fitting skirts and trousers to emphasise the bottom?
Why then is this obsession with beauty?
Researchers have reported that beauty is used by women to catch men with better resources to guarantee a better life for their children.
But one researcher quoted in Newsweek said: "Beauty isn't all that matters in life; most of us manage to attract mates and bear offspring despite our physical imperfections. And qualities we find alluring say nothing about people's moral worth."
This brings me to an incident that happened many years ago. A friend, who was blind, asked me to go with him to see a girl he was dating. On the way he told me that she was beautiful. How could he know she was beautiful when he could not see? I wondered. But he was right.
The girl was beautiful in the physical sense but my friend later explained that she had a wonderful heart and when he touched her hand he could feel her lovely spirit. They later got married.

Tears of happiness flowed down the faces of some of the guests but the newly weds were just full of smiles. It was the best wedding I have ever attended.
There is something beautiful in all of us men and women. Others may just have a lovely face or well-rounded hips and bottom but deep down, it is our moral worthiness that shines like a beacon of light to illuminate how beautiful we are.
Our weakness for "biological quality" is the cause of endless pain and injustice, according to one scientist Ray Thornhill of the University of New Mexico, USA.

TLC will air the "Miss America Pageant" on Jan. 26, and also will air a reality show to get viewers interested in the competitors.
